Take courage! Have hope! In almost every story we have read as children this is the chant of the Hero. His words bringing motivation and bravery to his men in order to defeat the villain, and to bring protection to the people of the land. Reading those stories often Inspired me to go out and face my own rivals. However, sometimes those words are easier said than done.
After all, when you’ve been overcome, and surrounded by sorrow, the meaning of those words are suddenly lost in the chaos. To have courage against your nemesis seems impossible when you stand paralyzed in fear. Sometimes, it is easier to go with the crowd when everyone else around you has lost hope.
This verse gives us hope to have courage against the battles we must face:
Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24 (NKJV)
Our strength is not enough to overcome the battles that we have to face, we must find our courage elsewhere. And there in lies the promise of courage to those who put their hope in the Lord. He is our protector, and the antidote to the fear that threatens to overwealm us. He lifts us up when we fall, and are too weak to carry on ourselves. God will never fail us. It is only through Him that we have become overcomers.
