Strategic Fighting

Governments send spies into enemy territory to infiltrate the ranks and gather information. If the spies could figure out the enemy’s troop placement, strategy, or plans, then maybe they could respond appropriately and win the war.

What if, as Christians, we could know the enemy’s tactics and how to respond so we could win the battle we are facing?

We read in 1 Chronicles 14 that when David went to war against the Philistines God told him how to win each battle. The first time when David asked God what to do, God gave him instructions to attack them. The second time David inquired of God, He gave him specific instructions to circle around the Philistines and attack them in front of the balsam trees. Each time David was given the victory over his enemy.

You too can have victory over the enemy by fighting strategically. We must know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12). There is an enemy who wants to destroy your soul.

You can defeat this enemy by inquiring of God for his help just like King David. He will give you the victory when you listen to his voice and obey his instructions.

God knows your enemy more than anyone else. He knows the best tactics to defeat Satan who prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Seek the Lord and he will give you wisdom to beat addiction, overcome temptation, stand against oppression, or whatever the battle is that you are facing.

Take encouragement from the words of the Lord from 2 Chronicles 20:15 “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” You can fight strategically. You can overcome the enemy. You can have the victory. God is with you, he goes before you, and when you seek him, he will fight for you. His is the winning strategy.
