Keeping America Great

Keeping America Great
Share

Today is a new day, folks. Regardless of red states and blue states, left-leaning or right-leaning, Democrat, Republican, or Independent, we have a new president. There are only 5 men alive that know, without any doubt, what being president entails and the weight of responsibility it bears. There are only 5 men alive who have endured the untold stress that being president puts on the individual and their family.

We have had presidents over the years that have been extremely partisan from both sides of the political spectrum. The country has not ceased to exist. We have had presidents whose ethics have been questionable at the least and been seemingly civilly criminal at times. We have had presidents that caused us to look inside and examine ourselves and ask ourselves what are we doing for the common good and our neighbor.

The good news is the United States of America continues to be great regardless of who her president is. We continue to be that shining city on a hill that much of the world looks to. The president may be the face of this nation to the world, but the people are the heart. There is no wonder why many people of foreign lands do whatever it takes to come here to live and work and play. There are many great places to live in this world, but there are none I would rather be than here in America.

America’s peaceful transition of leadership has been a hallmark of how great America is. Who you voted for or whether you think the outgoing president is the best or the worst does not matter. Whether or not you question past decisions and statements of the incoming president does not matter. Let us agree that the peaceful transition of leadership has been a shining example of how great America has been for more than 200 years. That is a world record, I believe.

The only way to sink this great nation is to not stand together. We must stand together in support of our civil servants and military. We must stand in support of our elected officials; local, regional, state, and federal. We must stand in support most of all for our neighbors. Making and keeping America great does not start or end with electing a president. It starts and ends with the people.

How great America is does not come from the president we elect, nor the amount of money we make. It is not the ratio of exports to imports we have. America’s greatness comes from the many citizens who watch out for each other day in and day out. America is great because our citizens have compassion for each other, and support each other.

Pray for our nation. Pray for our leadership, whether you voted for them or not, or even whether you voted or not. Do your best and help your neighbors, for that is what truly makes and keeps America great.

Thank you for keeping America great!
