God Has a Plan For You

Recently, I have been looking back over the last few years of my life, and in every decision I made I am able to see God’s divine hand. It being my past, I can look back and clearly see how God led me to where I am today. But at certain times I remember wondering what I, a small-town girl with no noteworthy abilities, could possibly have to offer God. The severe doubt I had in myself was almost paralyzing at times, keeping me from really hearing what God had to say.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (Jeremiah 29:11-12 NIV)

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?  (Numbers 23:19 NIV)

In these verses, God promises hope and prosperity for His people, and He gives peace with the knowledge that all His promises are kept. We are not meant to live as captives to our doubts and fears. God has created a plan for each one of us, a unique and exhilarating adventure with new experiences around every corner.

Now that I am able to see how God is fulfilling the promises that He made to me years ago, I realize how horribly wrong I interpreted His words. We, as humans, cannot ever hope to fully comprehend God’s plan for our lives. We are too short-sighted to see the full picture. Which is why His promises often come out in ways we least expect. All we can do is wait, with open hearts and listening ears, for God to speak to us and for His promises to come to pass.

So I encourage you, brothers and sisters in Christ, don’t let Satan overwhelm you with doubt. Instead, know that God plans something extraordinary for your life, something He has planned just for you. Embrace the unknown for it is endless possibilities of God moving in your life in ways you can’t even begin to imagine. Hold close to your heart the words that God has spoken to you, and wait with excitement for His words to come to pass. Ignore the lies that tell you that you are an ordinary person, with average potential; because to God, you are extraordinary. He has called you to stand out, to stand away from the crowd. You just have to be willing to listen, and willing to say “Here I am God, send me.”
